Keep It Simple!

SUI Wässer contains no water, fragrance, or unnecessary additives—only ingredients selected to support skin recovery after exposure.

Our Balms are specifically formulated to sooth sensitive skin — No Burning, No Stinging — guaranteed!

Soy Wax

Soy wax is a plant-based wax that helps balance firmness and spreadability in the balm. It contributes to a softer, more flexible texture than harder waxes alone, allowing the balm to apply smoothly without excessive drag. In SUI Wässer, soy wax supports a lighter feel while still reinforcing the skin’s surface barrier.

Beeswax

Locally sourced Beeswax is used in SUI Wässer to form a breathable protective barrier on the skin. It helps reduce moisture loss without sealing the skin completely, allowing it to remain comfortable while shielding it from cold, wind, and dry air. Beeswax has been used for generations in skin care for its stability and its ability to support barrier function in harsh environments.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil

Meadowfoam seed oil is prized for its exceptional stability and long-lasting moisture support. It helps the balm remain effective on the skin over time, providing a smooth, cushioning feel without heaviness. Its resistance to oxidation makes it particularly well suited for post-exposure care and outdoor use.

Sunflower Oil

High-linoleic sunflower oil is rich in essential fatty acids that support the skin barrier. It helps replenish lipids that can be depleted by sun, wind, and cold exposure, contributing to improved comfort and resilience. This oil is lightweight, non-occlusive, and commonly used to support recovery in dry or irritated skin.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum, which makes it especially well-tolerated and effective at supporting moisture balance. Rather than sitting heavily on the skin, it helps condition and soften while integrating naturally with the skin barrier. Jojoba oil is often used in formulations designed for sensitive or stressed skin.

Even our additives are plant based:

+Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

Vitamin E (Tocopherol) is a powerful antioxidant, derrived from plants, that helps support skin health and protect the oils in the formulation from oxidation. It has a long history of use in skin care, particularly in products designed to address environmental stress. In SUI Wässer, Vitamin E is a foundational ingredient that supports both skin comfort and formulation stability.

+Stearic Acid

Stearic acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid, sourced from plants, that helps stabilize the structure of the balm. In SUI Wässer, it contributes to a consistent texture and supports even application. It also plays a role in reinforcing the skin’s surface barrier, particularly in cold and drying conditions.

Coco-Caprylate

A plant-derived ester, sourced from Cocos nucifera or Coconut Palm. It is not a raw oil in the traditional sense. It’s widely used in modern, high-quality skincare because it improves feel without adding heaviness or greasiness.

Other Balm Additives Under Investigation…

(Not included in Batches 2, 4, 5, 6, or 7).

Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate

Purpose: An Oil-Soluble Vitamin C | Converted to Vitamin C in the Skin

We are currently evaluating Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THD Ascorbate), a stable, oil-soluble form of Vitamin C. Unlike traditional water-based Vitamin C, THD integrates into lipid-rich formulations such as balms and remains stable in anhydrous systems. Once absorbed, it is enzymatically converted in the skin to active Vitamin C.

We are investigating THD for its potential to:

• Support post-UV oxidative stress recovery

• Promote collagen resilience

• Help reduce visible redness after cold and wind exposure

• Provide long-term antioxidant defense in high-altitude environments

Our goal is to determine whether low concentrations meaningfully enhance mountain skin recovery without compromising formulation integrity.

Bisabolol

Purposes: Targeted Skin-Calming Support

Bisabolol is a naturally derived compound traditionally sourced from chamomile and the Candeia tree. Known for its exceptional skin-soothing properties, it is widely used in high-performance skincare designed for sensitive or environmentally stressed skin.

Potential benefits:

  • Helps reduce the appearance of redness

  • Supports skin comfort after wind and sun exposure

  • Enhances skin tolerance in extreme climates

  • Works synergistically with antioxidant systems

Bisabolol aligns with our goal of supporting alpine skin that faces cold air, UV reflection, and rapid temperature shifts.

Ceramide Complex (NP/AP)

Purposes: Barrier Lipid Restoration

Cold air and wind strip natural ceramides from the skin. Adding a cosmetic-grade ceramide complex could help restore the skin’s natural lipid matrix.

Potential benefits:

• Strengthens barrier integrity

• Improves moisture retention

• Supports recovery from environmental exposure

This would move the balm toward a more clinically structured barrier-repair system.

Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinone)

Purposes: Mitochondrial Antioxidant Support

CoQ10 supports cellular energy and defends against oxidative stress.

Potential benefits:

• Helps mitigate UV-induced oxidative damage

• Supports skin vitality

• Works synergistically with Vitamin E

Well suited to a mountain recovery narrative.

Squalane

Purposes: Lightweight Barrier Reinforcement

Squalane is a stable, skin-compatible lipid that mimics components naturally found in the skin’s protective barrier. It provides softness without heaviness and supports moisture retention in extreme climates.

Potential benefits:

  • Helps reduce moisture loss in dry, cold air

  • Supports skin suppleness and flexibility

  • Enhances spreadability without greasiness

  • Reinforces barrier comfort during exposure

Squalane allows Alpine Recovery+ to remain protective while maintaining elegant wearability.
